3 Ways To Do Lace Peplum

A great find in Forever New recently that consists of two of my favourite words right now: lace, peplum. Firstly, this top is comfy as anything (usually a requirement to make it into my wardrobe) and secondly, so many options!

The top does come with a purple came underneath but it’s detachable, therefore making the top a lot more fun.

A week or so later heading out for drinks: paired with Kookai skirt & Tony Bianco nude pumps

I’ll definitely be looking for more ways to style this baby.

Outfit update

20120926-224749.jpg

Forever New top, Jay Jays high waisted shorts, YSL arty ring, Natasha sandals and RayBan folding wayfarers.

It’s starting to get quite hot in the tropics and it’s technically only spring. The great thing about this outfit is not only is it cool and easy to wear, it was also under $100 for the top and shorts.

Lioness dress, Tony Bianco Shoes, Eclettica clutch

This is my newest number from Princess Polly. The dress was $70 (I think) and is a thicker jersey-like material. So while it’s probably not the coolest dress — given summer is around the corner — I figured if I’m going to be hot, I might as well do it looking hot.

Zimmermann floating Vase bikini

A new bikini for summer — what could be better? This is my second purchase from Surf Stitch and my gosh they deliver quickly. I’ve loved this floral pattern since I first saw it and finally I decided to indulge a little. Pretty good fit, but I wouldn’t like to wear this top in rough surf or anything.

Ba&sh top, Paige Premium Denim shorts, Repetto flats, Ray Ban folding wayfarers

Possibly one of my favourite casual outfits right now. It’s so comfy and chic and effortless; not to mention it’s great for the cold classroom to steamy outside transition between classrooms at uni. I will probably wear this till it’s falling apart and looking daggy as all hell.

Recent buys

A few of my recent purchases.

Repetto tan ballet flats from local boutique Domain Shoes and Accessories. Did I mention I can wear my orthotics with them? Winner. Although, okay, I admit I do need to invest in some double sided tape just to hold the orthotics down a bit better. But at least I kind of have another pair of shoes to wear orthotics with.

Rory Beca lace running shorts from Shopbop. So comfy, so good for kicking around the house. And they’re a bit chic too. Oh, and they were $30. Love it.

Forever New white and black button up dress. I bought this for an upcoming 21st with the theme ‘white formal’. Obviously I could have gone with something more formal, like a gown, but with the right hair and makeup I think this will work. Plus the party is in a club and I’m not risking a drink spill on something ball gown-ish.

21st birthday outfit

I can’t remember if I ever posted a picture of the outfit I wore to my 21st after all the effort I went to putting it together. Apologizes if I’ve already blogged this and am suffering amnesia.

I found this lovely Zimmermann dress in Melbourne while on holidays and was surprised at the time something strapless actually stayed up on me for once. The cut of the dress is very flattering on the female figure too; possibly something to do with the nicely cinched waisted and sweetheart neckline.

I did have a fair amount of trouble finding things to go with it. At first I tried contrasting it against block colours to no success. My turquoise necklace looked great but it wasn’t quite the look I was going for. I tried on purple, black, everything. Eventually a friend suggested a rather obvious choice I hadn’t thought of: gold and diamanté costume jewellery. While looking for something of this description, however, I found a lovely gold and shell leaf necklace that matched perfectly, along with some great gold and shell bangles to match all from Lovisa.

I paired the dress and jewellery with my white and gold YSL arty ring, some Betts Dorothy glitter pumps (which apparently come up more silver than gold in pictures), and a nice white and gold beaded clutch from Forever New. I really love how it all turned out. Not something I usually wear but perfect for a summer cocktail birthday party.

Recently I’ve been playing with different outfits revolving around the dress; hopefully I can fond plenty more to style it with. Definitely a great buy!

P.s. My brother just so happens to own the room with the full length mirror in it and happened to have tyres sitting in there on the weekend. Related: I feel like they make me look even shorter! Oh dear.

LBMD: Little Black Maxi Dress

20120307-230356.jpg

A new dress I purchased from Forever New last week. Fantastically comfortable; I adore this dress because you can dress it up or down and do so much with it accessories-wise.

It was reduced to $100 too! The local WNBL MVP Formal Dinner was on the weekend I purchased the dress too so I paired it with my Betts glitter pumps, Diva turqouise necklace and gold jewellery to turn it into a nice semi-formal outfit.

Definitely a dress I’ll be reworking for another event or a nice dinner out with the boyfriend.

Today’s Outfit: The Classic Sheer Shirt

Today’s Outfit for work and play. First pic is my very comfy outfit, very chic for work. I absolutely adore it. To be honest, I just chucked in on in a rush to work and thankfully it worked out great. I love that you can still see the skirt beneath because tucking in button ups can be a bother sometimes. At home I’m always in shorts and the top goes great with my blue True Religion Joey Cut-Offs. A tick in all three C’s: comfy, cool (which is most important in the tropics) and of course chic!
I couldn’t be bothered to wear a singlet underneath in this heat, or wear a black bra to make it stand out more. A slight faux pas but as a nearly-21-yo I feel it’s not so bad for me.

Top: Forever New
Shorts: True Religion
Accessories: Tiffany & Co necklace, Jen’s Pirate Booty bangle (I think… It was originally brandless but looks similar to JPB stuff), Mum’s Seiko watch

Oh finally, if you’re buying a similar shirt make sure you go a size up. Oversized is comfy, however make sure you don’t go so big you get swamped in the shirt.

Double Breast-Pocket Shirts

Kim Kardashian in Equipment Signature Blouse

What fashion-savvy girl isn’t obsessed with Equipment‘s signature blouse right now? One of the hottest basics on the market at the moment, the Equipment shirt is your typical double breast pocket button-up in the most magical silk ever. Okay, yes, that sounded quite lame; but they do feel amazing on.

Equipment Signature Blouse

I have a sneaking suspicion that the double pocket shirt looks good on all girls whether you are blessed with DDs or AA size boobs. Fortunate, huh? Especially when you consider that for some girl, finding a nice button-up can be difficult.

Eva Longoria in Equipment Signature Blouse

If you can’t afford to pull out AUD$200+ for an Equipment shirt, there are plenty of alternatives. My favourite is from Forever New. Now they’re slightly different in a way, but they still look fabulous and they come in an arab of colours. I own fuchsia, leopard print and cream. For less than $70 a pop they’re a total bargain! A white button up is essential for everyone (girls and boys) wardrobe, while fuchsia is a super fun colour to wear and will always turn a few heads. Leopard I simply had to get because of an Olivia Palermo outfit which I adore. I just need to find a similar skirt now.

So what are you waiting for? This style of shirt matchs nearly everything and everyone! Roll the sleeves up, tuck the front it, belt it – you name it, you rock it. So hurry up and go grab yourself one!
