ASOS Window Shopping

After spending over a month straight going to bed between 12am and 2am thanks to uni work, exhaustion has caught up with me and given me the flu. Instead of going out and continuing the celebrations that mark the end of the uni year, I’m stuck at home ‘resting’. What better way to spend a Saturday night in that sussing out cute clothes and watching some TV?

ASOS is a great site to hit when you’re in a shopping mood simply because they have so many options on offer. So here are some cute pieces I felt the need to share with you all! Oh and did I mention they’re all under $100AUD?

For a cool night out with the girls, pair this blue beauty with some tan heels and gold accessories.

ASOS PETITE Exclusive Long Sleeve Belted Wrap Front Dress

Every girl needs a few dresses that can go from the boardroom to after-work drinks. Wow them all in this red number.

ASOS Mini Tulip Dress with Flute Sleeves in Red

Wear with brogues and braids for a conservative-gone-artistic chic look.

ASOS Shift Dress with Embellished Trim in Navy/Silver

What a gorgeous colour! Like a lime flavoured icy-pop in the summer sun. The perfect dress for shopping and lunch dates with the ladies. I’m definitely considering purchasing this number to cheer me up!

ASOS Belted Dress With Scoop Neck in Antique Moss

Party the summer nights away in this show-stopping frock. This shade of plum is simply divine and so very fun. Don’t go OTT by pairing with a black clutch and heels and understated jewelry.

TFNC Bandeau Sweetheart Sequin Dress

Another dress I’m really wanting right now is this lovely white number. There’s just something about this dress that gets me. Maybe it’s the fact you can accessorise it with lots of black without looking like you’ve just stepped out of a goth’s wardrobe? Whatever it is, I like it!

ASOS Tailored Pleat Lapel Crepe Dress in Cream

Anyway I hope you’re all enjoying your weekend. Maybe if you’re tired tomorrow from too much fun you can find a great frock for next week!

Xmas Wish List

Well it’s exactly one month until Christmas and my family and I have started dropping hints about what gifts we want for Christmas. We’re one of those families who rarely surprise each other and instead get each other the things we’ve been lusting after for ages but haven’t gotten ourselves. What’s on your Christmas wish list this year? Perhaps a holiday, a lovely candle set, or maybe some perfume. Let me know what you’re wishing for by commenting on this post!

Below I’ve shared my Christmas wish list for everyone to check out. Enjoy!

Country Road Pierra Sandal in Fossil Wood. I’m certain a girl can never have enough neutral coloured flats of all descriptions.

Another Yves Saint Laurent arty ring to add to keep my white one company, this time in a nice blue. I can’t get over how addictive these rings are. I swear I wear mine every day.

J Brand Lola Shorts in Stealth. Who doesn’t love a great pair of leather shorts or a great leather skirt?

And if you saw my blog the other day, Betts Dorothy pumps in nude and the Stussy Florence Lane dress in mustard are also both high on my Christmas wish list.

Here’s to hoping we’ve all been good this year and that Santa brings us what we’re lusting after and wishing for!

Surf Stitch

A few months ago I was searching for an online store to buy a pair of Vans Authentic kicks from due to all my local surf stores having sold out of my tiny size shoe. A quick Google search introduced me to online surf store Surf Stitch who had a huge range of Vans on offer and the exact pair and colour I wanted in my size.

A few hours after ordering them I had the awful realisation that I had ordered them one size too small considering I wanted to put orthotics in them so my feet didn’t hurt while walking around Auckland. I gave them a quick call and in under 2 minutes they had changed the order and posted them to me that afternoon. For Aussies, they offer express delivery for free on orders over $10 (bargain!) and in a matter of days I had a brand new pair of Vans (I live in what Australia Post considers a regional area so unfortunately I don’t get them overnight).

Needless to say I was impressed with the service I’d received and ever since then I’ve realised Surf Stitch is a much larger company than I initially realised. They have some truly fantastic stuff on offer too. Lots of stock, lots of great brands and good prices.

Of course they’ve now become one of my favourite online shopping sites to visit, so I though I’d share some of my current lusts:

I love the simplicity of this dress. Comfy and free, gorgeous colour, jazz it up or wear as it is with an adorable bikini underneath–the possibilities are endless.

Stussy Florence Lane Dress - Mustard $79.95AUD

Cute Billabong maxi for drinks at the beach or Christmas lunch, anyone?

Billabong Forsaken Dress - Moon $89.99AUD

Pair this skirt with a white lace top for a day at the shops.

Piper Lane After Hours Mini Skirt - Peach $129.95AUD

Beach chic bikini top to go with any mismatched bikini bottom for a day in the sun.

Baku Bread And Butter 50's Padded Halter Separate Top - Black $79.99AUD

The Zimmermann bikini print I absolutely adore.

Zimmermann Charmer Looped Triangle Bikini - Feather $179.95

If you want to check any of these gorgeous pieces out simply head to Surf Stitch and go surf-wear crazy for summer!

Party Central

Last Saturday night I headed to The Grates concert at a local venue with plans to hit up the annual Fetish & Fantasy Ball afterwards. Since my amazing We Are Handsome dress hadn’t yet seen the light outside my up cupboard I decided to wear it out even if it wasn’t perfect for the occasion.

The dress is so skin-tight that a g-string was highly visibly underneath but I luckily had an extremely seamless pair of normal undies which luckily didn’t show. I paired the outfit with my Witchery clutch and some clog-like heels from Tony Bianco in a nice brown colour, because unfortunately I had no other heels that were both super high and matched.

While We Are Handsome hovers around the AUD$200 price range, they have some fantastic prints on offer in all their collections and the price is definitely worth it. You’ll be very comfortable and you’ll have heaps of fun wearing their great prints. The number of compliments I received about the dress was crazy—but then who doesn’t like colourful hot air balloons?

I wish I had visited Betts before I wore this dress out, however. The above pair of shoes are the nude coloured Dorothy pumps and, wow, aren’t they amazing! Next pay cheque I know what I’m investing in!

With a size 5-6 foot I often have difficultly with shoes, and my size often changes depending on the style (5 for open toe, 6 for a closed toe pump). Luckily, I fit the size 6 perfects and found the medium width of the shoe really helps to make it more comfortable.

10.5cm high with a 2cm platform, these babies are super comfy and will surely stand the dancing-till-dawn test. Once I get my hands on a pair I will be rocking these with my We Are Handsome dress for sure! Other colours are available as well as a strappy style and a wedge style; so if you need some sparkle in your life head on over to Betts ASAP!

p.s. Excuse the messiness of the room in the picture, my brother is super messy and I don’t have a full length mirror in my own room!

p.p.s. If you haven’t seen The Grates live then you need to. I believe they sound better live than they do on CD–not to mention the forever energetic Patience Hodgson (lead vocals) really knows how to perform.

Today’s Outfit: Sunday Sesh & Movie Chic

I’m running a bit slow posting my Today’s Outfit blogs so please forgive me. The above outfit is what I wore to Sunday drinks at the beach for a friend’s birthday. Very comfy, a little bit unique and not to OTT for the beach.
Top: Ricochet
Shorts: Oneteaspoon
Shoes: Natasha
Bag: Witchery
Jewelry: Yves Saint Laurent arty ring, Tiffany & Co necklace and pendant.

On Monday night I went to see Twilight Breaking Dawn part 1 with some girl friends. Since movies are always cold I took my cute little American Vintage cardigan and then added more colour with my Diva necklace (around $10-$20 I think) and my favourite bag right now.
Dress: American Vintage
Cardigan: American Vintage
Shoes: Natasha
Bag: Longchamp Le Pliage Tote in grape
Jewelry: Diva necklace, YSL ring.

Christmas goodies

One of the reasons I enjoy Christmas has nothing to do with Christmas in a way. Every year around the holiday season make-up companies seem to release awesome little gift packs filled with great make-up and it’s usually heaps cheaper than normal.

Lancôme does a great little eye kit every now and then, consisting of one of their mascaras, eye make-up remover and an eyeliner for the same price as the mascara normally. Good bargain! Plus the Hypnôse Drama mascara is only sold in certain stores (at least, according to a make-up assistant) and luckily was one of the mascaras offered in a pack. I refuse to use any other mascara as this is by far the best brand and type I’ve come across.

Make sure you head to your local chemist, department store or beauty shop to see what deals they have in store. Do not miss out on saving some money and trying a few new pieces. Like me, you might be able to do your yearly make-up change over and pick up some extra bits and bobs on the way!

Today’s Outfit: comfy exam chic

Today was my second exam out of three and I felt slightly under-prepared no thanks to some unforeseen events that disrupted my study.

To combat my feeling of not being ready I decided to do myself up in a casual chic look so at least one part of me was prepared for the day ahead.

Sometimes I feel by dressing up before a long or stressful I put my mind in the right headspace to tackle whatever comes at me. I’m not sure if others experience this feeling but try dressing up of you wake up on the wrong side of bed and you may just feel better!

So I chose to don a favourite casual dress of mine by American Vintage. I adore this shade of blue and the shape of this dress–it flatters most figures and comes in many colours.

The blue went fabulously with my new Longchamp bag which I had stuffed full with ny pencil case, calculator, diary and various other exam necessities.

To add a bit of glam to the outfit I wore my comfy Natasha diamanté t-bar sandals and my gorgeous Yves Saint Laurent ring—and of course my Tiffany and Co necklace which I’ve barely taken off since I bought it.

Needless to say I was super comfy and I also came out of the exam feeling like I did a good job.

The one trick with dressing for uni, especially in a regional city, is not to overdo it. Majority of students are in classes all day and when they’re not it’s ridiculously humid outside; so everyone gets around in denim shorts/ruggers and singlets.

My boyfriend has always joked that he noticed me in classes purely on the fact I’ve was overdressed compared to everyone else—overdressed meaning standard retail assistant hair/make-up/clothes where I usually was before class.

Comfy summer dresses are a must for the hotter months at uni and won’t make you look overdressed with understated jewelry. Skater skirts and casual maxis paired with a simple top is another great, feminine outfit idea for uni without looking too dressy.

So have a play and don’t be afraid to try something different. Truly stylish people aren’t just the people who know how to dress up, but the people who know how to dress stylishly on their day off!
